WELCOME TO PEARCE!

The Historic Pearce Township lies in the Sulphur Springs Valley in the geographic center of Cochise County in Arizona. When you stand at the point where Ghost Town Trail and Pearce Road converge, you can turn in any direction and experience the union of the past and the present and the merging of harsh high desert landscaping with the beauty of the surrounding mountains.

Photographers, hikers, birders, historians and travelers will be captivated by this unique mining town that dates to the discovery of gold in 1894 by James Pearce.

The small businesses that are housed in historic buildings offer unique shopping experiences. During the school year, Pearce Elementary School students attend classes in an environment that includes a building that dates to 1912.

Stop by the Historic Pearce Jail built in 1915. Old Pearce Preservation Association, a local non-profit organization, owns the jail property. The jail is open to the public on the first Saturday of each month, October - May from 10 AM-3 PM, or with special arrangement by calling Anna Nickell at 520-678-2874.

Follow Pearce Road westward to Memorial Drive and the Pearce Cemetery. Allow plenty of time to explore the grounds. The cemetery has been in continuous use for more than 100 years and is maintained by the non-profit Pearce Cemetery Association.
